Sky-Watcher WAVE Counterweight Kit for WAVE 100i & 150i: balance is the foundation
An equatorial mount only performs when balanced: the counterweight compensates for the weight of the telescope and accessories, allowing the motors to run lightly and evenly. Too little counterweight means wear, tracking errors, and vibrations.
A harmonic drive can operate without a counterweight, but with a counterweight its load capacity increases and the load on the drive decreases. For heavy photography setups on the WAVE 100i or 150i, this stainless steel kit is therefore the sensible expansion.
