Sky-Watcher EQ3-2 with tripod: equatorial tracking for a fair price
The EQ3-2 provides a stable parallactic mount for a lightweight telescope. You align it with the North Star and then track any object with a single turn of the flexible slow-motion knob: the image moves smoothly along with the object, without needing corrections in either direction. This makes observing at higher magnifications much more relaxing.

The worm gear drive with a bronze worm and aluminum worm wheel runs on ball and slide bearings, ensuring smooth movement. Two counterweights (1.8 and 3.42 kg) balance tubes up to 5 kg. With the optionally available motor set or even a GoTo upgrade, the EQ3-2 grows with your ambitions.
Included
- EQ3-2 mounting head with Vixen-style saddle
- 2 counterweights (1.8 kg and 3.42 kg, rod Ø18 mm)
- Flexible slow-motion buttons
- Aluminum Tripod
Featured accessories
The Sky-Watcher RA and DEC motor set for the EQ3-2 motorizes tracking; the Enhanced Dual-Axis Motor Drive with ST-4 port even allows autoguiding. The polar scope illumination for EQ3-2 and EQ5 aids in alignment.
For whom yes, for whom no
Good for: beginner observers with a light refractor or Newtonian who really want equatorial tracking without a big budget. Not for: if you have a tube over 5 kg, then step up to the NEQ-5 or EQ5 Pro.
