Premium H-alpha telescope with professional resolving power
The Lunt LS80MT ST 80/560 Ha B1200 R&P All-round OTA is a high-end solar telescope for advanced observers and solar photographers who want to capture structural details on the solar surface with maximum sharpness. With an 80 mm aperture, completely obstruction-free optics and a bandwidth fine enough for high-contrast H-alpha visibility, this telescope offers a noticeable leap forward from the LS60MT series.
The larger aperture gives you more resolution (1.73″), which is especially visible in fine structures such as filament edges, spicules and shape changes in prominences.

Modular design: from H-alpha to ED-apo in minutes
Like all of Lunt's MT models, the LS80MT is fully modular. The internal H-alpha etalon can be removed, after which the telescope turns into a high-quality 80 mm ED-apo with FPL-51 glass. This makes it a particularly flexible instrument for night observation and photography.
’At night, you can use the telescope for sharp shots of the moon, planetary details such as Jupiter shadows and Saturn rings, and bright deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula. During the day, you'll enjoy dynamic H-alpha detail without concessions in contrast or stability.

Large B1200 block filter: ideal for photography and larger sensors
The B1200 version is suitable for both visual use and photography and gives you a wider field of view than the B600 variant. This is especially important if you:
- works with a larger camera sensor,
- used a binoviewer,
- or larger prominences fully in view.
The high-quality FMC coatings and the finely adjustable pressure-controlled filter system make it possible to quickly find the optimum sweet spot for prominences and surface textures.

Robust build quality with precise Rack & Pinion focuser
The LS80MT comes with a 2-inch Rack & Pinion focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment, allowing you to focus effortlessly even at high magnifications or during H-alpha photography. The tube is all-metal construction with sturdy tube rings, an integrated handle and a transport case that provides protection during transport.
With a transport length of only 500 mm, the telescope is surprisingly compact for its class.

What we recommend (including what you can see with it)
With the Lunt LS80MT Ha B1200 you can count on:
- ✓ Very sharp prominences along the sun's edge
- ✓ Filaments, plages, active regions and prominent spicule structures
- ✓ Higher surface sharpness than LS60 models thanks to 80 mm aperture
- ✓ Great stability for H-alpha photography, even with larger sensors
- ✓ Ability to use as an ED-apo for moon, planets and bright nebulae
- ✓ Perfect for advanced users who want maximum detail reproduction
If you primarily want to photograph, then the B1200 is ideal. If you have a very large sensor or often use a binoviewer, then a B1800 variant is even more broadly suitable.
