iOptron iAFS3 2″ Automatic Focuser: inline 3-inch automatic focuser
The iAFS3 is the 3-inch version of iOptron's inline automatic focuser. It sits in the optical path between the telescope and camera; the worm gear drive provides zero backlash and passively locks the position (iLock), so the focus remains stable at any tube position.
With a 6 kg payload capacity and a clear aperture of 68 mm, the iAFS3 is made for large RCs, astrographs, and full-frame imaging trains without vignetting. The resolution is 0.6 µm per step.

Three ways of focusing
Operation can be via computer (ASCOM and INDI), with buttons on the housing, or with the manual focus wheel that overrides the motor. The built-in temperature sensor feeds temperature compensation into your imaging software, keeping focus sharp all night.

Supplied complete
The iAFS3 comes with a 2-inch visual back and USB-C cables, and remembers its position without power. The camera angle adjuster rotates your framing without detaching the optical train. iAFS3 adapters are available for the telescope side, including for GSO 3-inch Newtonians, GSO RC10 to RC16, and Askar APOs.
Included
- iAFS3 focuser (FA30)

Featured accessories
Choose the iAFS3 adapter that matches your telescope, for example for GSO 10″ and 12″ Newtonians.
For whom yes and for whom no
- ✓ Astrophotographers with large RCs, astrographs, or full-frame imaging trains up to 6 kg
- ✗ Compact tubes and lighter trains: the more affordable iAFS2 is sufficient for that
