One line, deliberately chosen

The filter exclusively lets light around 486 nanometers pass through, the H-beta emission line of hydrogen. Objects emitting this light become visible, while starlight, moonlight, and artificial lighting are almost completely filtered out.

What you use him for

The classic targets are the California Nebula (NGC 1499), the Horsehead Nebula (IC 434), and Simeis 147: objects that are barely noticeable even under a dark sky without this filter. The larger aperture allows you to view these extended fields in a single image.
