ZWO ASI482MC Color: Large Pixels for Maximum Light Yield
The ASI482MC takes its own path: instead of constantly smaller pixels, this color camera uses large 5.8-micrometer pixels. The result is enormous light throughput per pixel, making the camera excel in Electronically Assisted Astronomy (EAA), lunar mosaics, and shots with slower optics from f/8.
The back-illuminated Sony IMX482 STARVIS sensor (11.1 x 6.2 mm, 1920 x 1080) delivers low-noise, bright images, even without active cooling, and is also sensitive in the near-infrared spectrum.

The EAA and wide-field camera
With EAA, how quickly a recognizable image appears on the screen matters. The large pixels of the ASI482MC collect so much light that live stacking shows results after short exposures, ideal for observation nights and public outreach.
The large sensor area on refractors, Maksutovs, and RC telescopes provides a generous field of view for lunar surveys and bright deep-sky objects.

Speed and versatility
With 82 frames per second at full resolution, the camera is also suitable for lucky imaging of the Moon and planets. The high sensitivity, even into the near-infrared, also opens the door to IR imaging.
Without active cooling, the camera remains compact and ready for immediate use: connect via USB and start photographing.

For whom yes, for whom no
Hello EAA observers and photographers with slower optics (f/8 and slower) who prefer light-gathering power over pixel count.
Not for those seeking maximum planetary resolution; small pixels like in the ASI678MC sample finer detail.
