Just a little closer than with ten times magnification, without making the image too dark: that’s what you need if you want to view star clusters and distant details. The Bushnell PowerView 2.0 12×50 magnifies twelve times with 50 mm lenses, in an aluminum housing with multi-coated optics (MC).
The 4.2 mm exit pupil is wide enough for a clear view in twilight. At night, you can see star clusters, the moon and the moons of Jupiter as light points next to the planet. You can find it near our binoculars for stars and the moon.
At twelve times magnification, the image becomes more shaky. Lean against something sturdy or place the viewer on a tripod with a binoculars adapter. Let your eyes get used to the darkness for a quarter of an hour, and then use only red light, for example from a red flashlight for star gazers.
If you want a calmer image from hand-held shots, there is The 10×50 from the PowerView 2.0 series.
