Omegon Newton 76/700 AZ-1: the most affordable reflector telescope with a complete set

The Omegon Newton 76/700 AZ-1 The cheapest way to start with a Newtonian telescope on a tripod: 76mm aperture, 700mm focal length (f/9.2), and an alt-azimuth mount that you operate as you see fit. Unpack, set up, and look at the Moon within five minutes.

A Newtonian reflector works with mirrors instead of lenses: large aperture for little money and a color-aberration-free image. Occasional collimation (aligning mirrors) is part of it; that can be done in a few minutes.

Omegon Newton 76/700 AZ-1 with eyepieces and Barlow lens

Three eyepieces, Barlow, and erect image prism

With the H 20 mm and H 12.5 mm eyepieces, you observe at 35x and 56x: the working range for the Moon, planets, and overview. The 2x Barlow doubles this to 70x and 112x. The SR 4 mm eyepiece promises 175x on paper, but practically, the limit for this aperture is around 150x; save that eyepiece for very steady nights.

The 1.5x erecting lens turns the image upright for daytime nature observation, and the 5x24 finder scope helps with aiming.

AZ-1: Aligning without technique

Up, down, left, right: the azimuthal mount moves exactly as you intuitively aim. No alignment, no counterweights. This makes it a great first telescope for children and their parents.

Included

  • Newtonian optics 76/700
  • AZ-1 azimuthal mount with tripod
  • Eyepieces H 20 mm, H 12.5 mm, and SR 4 mm (1.25 inch)
  • 2x Barlow lens
  • 1.5x inverted lens for earth observation
  • 5x24 finder

Featured accessories

The Omegon laser collimator (€44.90) keeps the mirrors aligned; every Newtonian should have one in a drawer. An Omegon Premium 1.25-inch moon filter (€19.90) dims the bright moonlight, and with the Omegon smartphone adapter 25-48 mm (€14.90), you can take your first moon photo through the eyepiece.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this can cause permanent eye damage within a second. For the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, the Bresser solar eclipse glasses (€3.20) are the safest way to watch with the naked eye.

For whom yes, for whom no

Best for: those who want a real reflecting telescope with a complete accessory set for as little money as possible. Not for: those who prefer to view the Moon from a table or are looking for maximum simplicity; the Omegon Dobson 76/300 is more compact and even more affordable. Compare via the Choice assistant.
