iOptron CEM26 Counterweight Shaft CW - Low Latitudes: shaft adapter for low latitudes

Close to the equator, the polar axis of an equatorial mount is almost horizontal. The standard attachment of the counterweight shaft then hits the mount body. This adapter relocates the attachment point, allowing you to normally balance the CEM26 even below 10 degrees latitude, down to 5 degrees.

Attach the adapter to the counterweight bar and you are done; no further adjustments are necessary.

For travelers to the tropics

Travelers taking the CEM26 to destinations around the equator, for example for the southern sky, can maintain full balance and stability with this adapter, even with heavy counterweights.
