Omegon LRGB CCD filter set 1.25 inch: color images with a monochrome camera
With this LRGB filter set, you get the most out of a monochrome astro camera. A color camera uses a fixed Bayer mosaic for color separation, meaning only a portion of the pixels is used per color. A monochrome camera captures each channel separately with the full resolution of the sensor. This results in sharper and more detailed images.

Four filters, one image
The set consists of four filters. Luminance (L) transmits visible light and blocks UV and IR radiation; that channel provides the sharpness and detail. Red, green, and blue together form the color information.

Procedure
You take a series of exposures for each filter and combine them afterwards in your editing software into a single color image. The luminance channel usually gets the most exposure time because it determines the structure.

What you use LRGB for
LRGB is the designated route for galaxies, star clusters, and reflection nebulae: objects that emit across a broad spectrum. For emission nebulae under light pollution, narrowband filters are more effective.
Featured accessories
A 1.25-inch filter wheel makes switching between the four channels easy and keeps the focus stable.
