Omegon Camera veLOX 662 C Color: Starvis 2 planetary camera in Full HD

The veLOX 662 C is the successor to the veLOX 462 C. Both cameras operate with the same pixel size and the same resolution, but the IMX662 with Starvis 2 technology is more sensitive, especially in the red and near-infrared ranges.

The difference also lies in the storage capacity per pixel. This is significantly larger in the IMX662, which means that bright parts of the Moon or Venus clip less quickly.

Sensor and image

The 1/2.8-inch sensor measures 5.6 by 3.2 mm with a diagonal of 6.45 mm. The resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels of 2.9 micrometers, read out with 12 bits.

The connection is made via USB 3.0, allowing the camera to achieve very high frame rates when using a crop.

Where he distinguishes himself

The extra sensitivity in the red comes in handy with Mars and with narrowband work. The larger full well capacity provides more headroom in the highlights.

Those who are primarily looking for the highest possible frame rate will look at the veLOX 462 C. Those who consider sensitivity more important will choose this 662 C.

Autoguiding with an ST4 port

The camera has a built-in ST4 port. You connect it directly to the autoguider port of your mount and correct the tracking during long exposures. The sensitivity also makes the camera a great autoguider.

PHD2 recognizes the camera natively. It also works with N.I.N.A., SharpCap, and similar programs via the ASCOM and INDI drivers.

Connect to your telescope

The housing has the shape and diameter of a 1.25-inch eyepiece. So you can slide the camera into almost any focuser. The flange distance is 12.5 mm; with the included extension tube, it becomes 17.5 mm.

The housing has C- and CS-mount threads and the shape of a 1.25-inch eyepiece. 1.25-inch filters can be screwed onto the included adapter.

Included

  • Camera in anodized aluminum housing
  • Adapter with 1.25 inch filter thread (C-mount to M28.5)
  • Extension piece with flange distance 17.5 mm
  • USB cable
  • ST4 cable

Featured accessories
