A simple measurement with your Sky Quality Meter tells you how dark the sky is, but not where the light is coming from. With this SQM-L filter adapter, you attach a filter to the lens, so you can also measure through a filter and see how much of the sky background comes from a particular color or type of lighting.
The adapter is intended for the Sky Quality Meters with lens: the SQM-L with lens, the SQM-LE with Ethernet and the SQM-LU.
Check beforehand which model you have, because for the SQM-LU-DL there is a separate adapter. Always compare measurements with and without the filter in the same place, under the same conditions and shortly after each other; otherwise the difference will be insignificant. You can see which types of filters are suitable for artificial light by looking at filters against light pollution.
