Omegon Nightstar 15×70 astronomy binoculars: the entry into stargazing with two eyes
The Nightstar 15×70 is the binoculars that most people use to discover what two eyes in the sky can do. Two 70 mm lenses together capture more than four times as much light as a 10×50, and that merk you can see the Milky Way, open star clusters, and the moons of Jupiter right away.
With 1.5 kg it is still manageable to lift, but at 15x magnification every image you hold in your hand shakes. Add a tripod adapter and a photo tripod, and you have for little money an instrument that can serve you for years.

What you see at 15x and 70 mm
The field of view of 4.4 degrees is nine full moons wide: the Pleiades, the Andromeda Nebula, and the Double Star Cluster in Perseus fit perfectly within it. The 4.7 mm exit pupil keeps the image clear, even if your eyes are not yet fully accustomed to the darkness.
Deep sky from a suburb: M13, M31, M42 and the larger open clusters. Under a dark sky, there are dozens of Messier objects among them. Planets remain small discs; this is not an instrument for that.
Construction and comfort
BaK-4 prisms, multi-coated lenses and a rubberized coating. The eye lenses fold up, and with a 18 mm eye distance, eyeglass wearers can see the entire field. Focusing is central, with dioptre correction on the right.
The viewer is splash-proof but not waterproof and not nitrogen-filled. Let it dry out after a wet night before putting it in the bag.
A tripod is not an option but a prerequisite
The tripod thread is located between the tubes. With the Omegon metal tripod adapter and an aluminum tripod with tilt head, you can be stable. Those who want more freedom of movement can choose the Omegon binoculars mounting with counterweight: it balances the viewer on a regular tripod head.
