If you want to see the chromosphere, prominences, and filaments of the Sun, you need an H-alpha setup, and that starts at larger telescopes at the front. The DayStar ERF E-281F80 is such an energy rejection filter. It blocks ultraviolet and infrared light and a large part of visible light, while the red light around the H-alpha wavelength continues through. This keeps the heat in your telescope and on the H-alpha filter to a minimum.
The fitting must fit snugly and securely on your tube or snorkel. If it a loose dew cap On your tube, measure the outside of the part where the filter comes in.
Never look directly at the Sun through an ERF alone and use it only in conjunction with a suitable H-alpha filter. If you are just starting out with the Sun, read What to look for in a sunscreen.
For an 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain there is the ERF E-244F63 for 8 inch.
