On a moving boat or in low light, a viewer with high magnification is of little use. The Bushnell H2O 7×50 magnifies seven times and has lenses of 50 mm, which keeps the image steady and clear as darkness falls. The H2O series is Bushnell’s line of waterproof viewers.
The exit pupil is over 7 mm, larger than that of most binoculars. This makes it suitable for use on the water and in the night sky, where you can view large sections of the Milky Way and vast star clusters. It belongs to our binoculars for the starry sky.
Keep in mind that your pupil dilates less over the years. If you are a little older, you don’t always get the full benefit of 7 mm, and a viewer with a smaller pupil dilation can still see clearly. On cold, humid evenings, they help binoculars straps against smudged lenses.
For day and bird watching the H2O 10×42 from the same series more convenient.
