The AE676C is an all-round camera with the Sony IMX676, a square STARVIS 2 1/1.6-inch sensor with 12.5 MP and pixels of 2.0 micrometers. You can mount it on a telescope for the moon, the sun (with a good solar filter) and planets, but you can also use it with a wide-angle or fisheye lens for meteors, the Milky Way or as an all-sky camera.
The camera has a single-stage Peltier element. Without a fan, it keeps the sensor vibration-free at temperatures up to 5 degrees below the ambient temperature, which is useful for long brandfocal lengths. With the magnetic fan module attached, that can be lowered to 20 degrees below the ambient temperature, for longer exposures of fog.
The protective window has an antireflection coating on both sides and transmits light between 400 and 1100 nm. The sensor is therefore also sensitive to infrared light; with an LP825 filter you can capture the Milky Way in infrared.
The camera works with ToupSky, SharpCap, FireCapture and N.I.N.A. Note: The ZWO ASIAIR only supports ZWO cameras; with the ToupTek StellaVita you can still work wirelessly.
Who is this camera for?
Hello Anyone looking for one camera to try everything with, from planets to the Milky Way.
Not Anyone seriously doing long deep-sky exposures; a two-stage cooled ATR camera is then better.
