The ATR585C uses the Sony IMX585, a STARVIS 2 1/1.2-inch sensor with 3840 x 2160 pixels at 2.9 micrometers. The same sensor is found in many planetary cameras, but here it comes with a two-stage Peltier cooling that brings the sensor to 45 degrees below the ambient temperature. This makes it a camera for both planets and moons as well as long exposures on nebulas and galaxies.
The sensor has no amplifier glow, there is 512 MB DDR3 buffer for stable transmission, and heating in four settings keeps the window free of condensation. Exposure times of up to an hour are possible.
For cooling, the camera needs a stable 12 volt power supply of 3 amps. The power adapter is included; you can also use a good lithium battery from 11 to 14 volts outside.
The camera works with ToupSky, SharpCap, N.I.N.A. and other programs via ASCOM or INDI. Please note: the ZWO ASIAIR only supports ZWO cameras. If you want to work wirelessly, the ToupTek StellaVita is the controller that comes with this camera.
Who is this camera for?
Hello who wants to start with cooled deep-sky photography using a refractor or a small Newton telescope and also wants to continue doing planet photography.
Not If you are looking for a large field of view for large clouds, then the ATR2600C with APS-C sensor is a better choice.
