Omegon 104 mm Triplet Refractor: the full-frame workhorse without frills

The Omegon 104 mm Triplet is a professional astrograph in its most basic, best-priced form: an air-separated triplet with FPL-53 and FPL-51 elements, a 650 mm brand focal length (f/6.25), and a robust 2.9-inch focuser with an M74 mount. Razor-sharp stars all the way to the edge of the image, even on full-frame sensors.

An apochromat converges all colors to a focal point. Stars remain white and point-like, without the purple edges of simple lenses: precisely what a camera sensor would mercilessly reveal.

The 2.9-inch focuser with M74 connection of the Omegon 104 mm

2.9-inch focuser: fully illuminated field

The large focuser prevents vignetting on large sensors and the M74 connection couples securely to heavy camera trains. The 175 mm backfocus leaves room for a filter wheel and off-axis guider.

FPL-53 plus FPL-51: maximum color correction

The combination of two types of ED glass in an air-spaced doublet suppresses color errors below the limit of visibility. What remains is contrast: nebulosity edges, dust lanes, and star colors just as they are.

Omegon 104 mm triplet with retracted dew shield

Compact for its class

With a retracted tube length of 564 mm, this astrograph fits in a standard flight case and on mid-range mounts. The version with a matching field flattener and case is available in our product range as a separate set.

Included

  • Air-spaced triplet 104/650 with FPL-53 and FPL-51 elements
  • 2.9-inch focuser with M74 connection
  • Scope rings with dovetail mount
  • Extendable dew shield

Featured accessories

The Omegon Pro UHC 2-inch filter (89 euros) brings out emission nebulae under light-polluted skies, and the Omegon Powerbank 10k 12V (39.90 euros) keeps the mount and camera powered for a night.

For whom yes, for whom no

Pros: astrophotographers who want the optics and already have the correction at home or will choose it later. Cons: anyone who immediately wants a completely corrected system; the Pro APO 104/650 with 2-inch field flattener and case is then the more logical purchase. Are you in doubt between the models? The Choice assistant helpt. More Omegon is on the merk page.
