TeleVue 5 inch: Tube Clamp Set: Tube clamp set with Vixen rail for 5 inch tubes

This set includes two tube rings for 127 mm tubes plus a Vixen-style dovetail. This allows a 5-inch tube, such as the NP127, to be mounted directly onto a GP-type or similar mount.

Two rings distribute the weight of a large tube over two support points, making it more rigid and gentler on the tube than a single clamp.

Why a clamshell

A clamshell ring encloses the tube over its full circumference with a felt lining: the clamping force is distributed, the paint remains undamaged, and the tube can slide in the ring to adjust the balance.

The quick-release makes it possible to open the ring without tools, so that the tube detaches from the mount in seconds for transport.

With Vixen rail to any mount

The included rail follows the widespread Vixen standard, meaning the 5-inch tube is not tied to TeleVue mounts: any mount with a Vixen saddle will accept it.

The rings slide on the rail for the correct center of gravity position, and the tube slides into the rings for fine balance.
