The Celestron Telescope AC 150/1200 Advanced VX GoTo is a powerful achromatic refractor with long focal length designed for detailed lunar and planetary observations. In combination with the Advanced VX mount this telescope offers a stable and fully automatic setup that appeals to beginners and advanced observers alike.
The 150 mm aperture delivers impressive contrast and clarity, revealing even subtle structures in Jupiter's cloud bands or Saturn's rings. Thanks to the long focal length of 1200 mm (f/8) high magnifications are possible without noticeable chromatic aberration, a great advantage when observing planets, the Moon and binary stars.
The optical tube features a rugged 2″ focuser with 1.25″ adapter, allowing both standard and wide-angle eyepieces to be used. The included 9×50 viewfinder makes it easy to locate objects quickly.
Advanced VX mount
The Advanced VX (AVX) is designed for those who want serious results in a portable setup. With a load capacity up to 13.5 kg the mount effortlessly supports this large refractor with additional accessories.
The NexStar+ handheld controller contains a database of more than 40,000 objects and makes alignment easy via All-Star Polar Alignment. The mount provides PEC correction for accurate tracking during long exposures, while the servo motors be powerful enough to compensate for small imbalances.
The steel legs (51 mm) guarantee stability, and its modular design keeps it relatively light and easy to transport.
Applicing
The Celestron AC 150/1200 Advanced VX GoTo is ideally suited for visual observations of the Moon, planets and bright deep-sky objects. Thanks to its long focal length and high contrast, this refractor excels in detail reproduction.
What you can see with it:
- Crater structures, mountain ranges and shadows on the Moon
- The rings of Saturn with Cassini separation
- Cloud bands and lunar shadows on Jupiter
- Ice sheets and dust storms on Mars
- Clear mists such as Orion (M42) and open star clusters such as Pleiades (M45)
Although the telescope is primarily for visual observation, you can also use a DSLR or planetary camera to make excellent moon and planet shots make. For deep-sky photography, a shorter telescope or an APO refractor is better suited.
