More aperture, more detail: the 90 mm all-rounder

The Celestron AstroMaster 90 AZ is the step up for anyone who wants to see more than a 70 mm telescope can show. The 90 mm lens gathers over 65 percent more light, and the 1000 mm focal length (f/11) delivers sharp, color-pure images at high magnification. Moon craters and mountain ranges, Saturn's rings, and Jupiter's cloud belts are the standard repertoire.

Aim simply, immediate result

The altazimuth mount moves in altitude and direction, with no equatorial learning curve. With the red dot finder you aim roughly, then the eyepiece takes over. The 20 mm and 10 mm eyepieces deliver 50x and 100x; realistically usable is up to about 180x with an additional eyepiece or Barlow.

For whom yes, for whom no

Ideal for: the beginner who wants to start seriously with an emphasis on the Moon and planets, and is looking for a telescope that will last for years. Not for: those who mainly want to see faint nebulae and galaxies; choose a reflector with a larger mirror instead, such as the AstroMaster 130 EQ.
