TeleVue TRF-2008 0.8x: Reducer/Field Corrector: reducer/flattener for TeleVue refractors
The TRF-2008 shortens the focal length of TeleVue doublets by a factor of 0.8 and flattens the field for photography. A TV-85 thus goes from f/7 to f/5.6, with almost a stop of exposure gain and a wider field.
The corrector is designed for TeleVue refractors with focal lengths of approximately 400 to 600 mm.

What a reducer/flattener does
A reducer shortens the effective focal length: the field of view becomes larger and the f-ratio faster, resulting in more signal for the same exposure. The flattener function simultaneously flattens the field curvature, so that stars remain points of light even in the corners of the sensor.
The distance between the corrector and sensor determines the result. Maintain the working distance specified by TeleVue; every millimeter of deviation is visible on the field stars.

Before purchasing, check the focuser connection size and the required back focus of your camera; with a reducer, the distance to the sensor is critical. If you are unsure about the combination with your telescope, please contact us.
