TeleVue Paracorr Comacorrector, Type 2: comacorrector voor parabolische Newtons

De Paracorr Type 2 is de standaard onder de visuele comacorrectoren. Hij corrigeert parabolische Newtons tot f/3 en verhoogt de brandpuntsafstand met een factor 1,15.

De Type 2 verscheen toen spiegels van f/4 en sneller gewoon werden; het ontwerp is op die generatie Dobsons berekend, waar het origineel uit 1989 bij f/4,5 zijn grens vond.

Why a Newtonian telescope has coma

A parabolic primary mirror images only the center perfectly. Toward the edge, stars acquire a comet-like tail: coma. The faster the mirror, the smaller the sharp center; at f/4, that is only a few millimeters.

No eyepiece can fix that, because the error originates in the mirror. A corrector in the light path can, however. The Paracorr corrects the coma and leaves the rest of the image unaffected.

De verstelbare top

Elk oculair heeft zijn eigen optimale afstand tot de correctorlens. De verstelbare top van de Paracorr heeft genummerde standen; TeleVue publiceert per oculair de juiste positie, zodat je na het wisselen in een seconde goed staat.

Met de juiste stand blijft de correctie over het volledige veld intact en verandert er aan de scherpstelling nauwelijks iets.
