TeleVue Ethos 13mm 100° : Oculair: Ethos-oculair met 100 graden beeldveld

De Ethos 13 mm is het oculair waarmee de hele serie in 2007 begon en nog altijd het meest verkochte model. De veldstop van 22,3 mm geeft ongeveer hetzelfde ware beeldveld als een 26 mm Ploessl, maar dan bij het dubbele van de vergroting.

Dat is de kern van het Ethos-idee: een donkerdere hemelachtergrond en meer detail, zonder dat je overzicht inlevert.

What a 100-degree field of view does

A classic Ploessl has 50 degrees, a Nagler has 82 degrees. At 100 degrees, your eye can no longer take in the field at once: you’re looking around the image instead of *at* it. That’s the effect the Ethos series is known for.

Practically, this also means that objects remain in view for longer. On a manually tracked Dobson, this saves constant readjustment.

Waarom juist deze brandpuntsafstand

In de reeks 21, 13 en 8 mm is de 13 mm de middelste stap. Op de meeste telescopen levert hij een vergroting die bruikbaar blijft onder wisselende omstandigheden, ook als het seeing niet meewerkt.

Met ongeveer 585 gram is dit een fors oculair. Op een Dobson met een lichte hoedring is het verstandig de balans te controleren voordat je het instrument loslaat.

Viewing Comfort and Dioptrx

The eye relief is 15 mm at every focal length in the series. The height of the foldable eyecup is adjustable, so your eye is always in the same position.

If you wear glasses due to astigmatism, you can replace them with Dioptrx on the eyepiece. This corrects your own cylindrical aberration without the eyeglass lenses costing contrast and eye distance.

In your telescope

In een telescoop met een brandpuntsafstand van 1200 mm levert dit oculair ongeveer 92x met een waar beeldveld van circa 1,06 graden. Je rekent dat voor je eigen telescoop uit met de veldstop: waar beeldveld = 57,3 x veldstop gedeeld door de brandpuntsafstand van de telescoop.

De veldstop van dit model is 22,3 mm. Dat getal, en niet de brandpuntsafstand alleen, bepaalt hoeveel hemel je werkelijk ziet.
