Omegon EQ-500 X Equatorial Mount with Tripod: equatorial tracking up to 10 kg

The EQ-500 X is a equatorial mount that carries telescopes up to 200 mm aperture and 10 kg, supplied with a stainless steel tripod and two 2.5 kg counterweights.

Why parallax

An equatorial mount is tilted, aligned with the Earth's axis. This allows you to track an object by rotating one axis instead of two simultaneously. At high magnification, this makes a huge difference: the object stays in view with one smooth motion.

Smooth on both axes

Both axes run on ball bearings and have fine adjustment. The scale markings on the axes help with setting coordinates, allowing you to locate objects that are not visible to the eye.

Solid foundation

The stainless steel tripod is crucial for the result. No matter how good a mount is, if the tripod vibrates, you'll see it with every touch in the image. An accessory tray between the legs keeps eyepieces within reach and simultaneously strengthens the construction.

To motorize later

For automatic tracking, you can expand the mount with a tracking motor. That is the logical next step as soon as you want to start with astrophotography.
