Omegon Redline SW 3.5 mm Eyepiece 70° (1.25 and 2 inch): 70 degree field of view with ED optics

The Omegon Redline SW 3.5 mm combines a 70-degree field of view with an ED lens element and a generous 20 mm eye relief. It has the shortest focal length in the series, for maximum magnification in calm conditions.

The holder is double-designed: the eyepiece fits directly into both a 1.25-inch and a 2-inch focuser, without an adapter.

ED optics for color purity

The ED element keeps color errors low, and the multi-layer coating on all air-to-glass transitions maximizes light transmission. The result is a sharp, high-contrast image all the way to the edge, even on faster telescopes.

20 mm eye relief and 70 degrees

This combination is what the Redline is known for: the wide field of view of a wide-angle eyepiece combined with the relaxed viewing experience that eyeglass wearers need. On a Dobsonian telescope without a tracking motor, objects stay in view significantly longer.

Ready for photography

Under the eyepiece is an M43 thread. You can use this with an adapter to connect an eyepiece projection camera, for example, for moon photography with a system camera.

What do you see with 3.5 mm?

On a telescope with a 750 mm focal length, a 3.5 mm eyepiece provides a magnification of 214x, and at 1200 mm, 343x. Reserve the latter for large apertures: a realistic maximum is 2x the aperture in millimeters.

Fine-scale features along the lunar terminator, the Cassini Division, and close binary stars are the targets for which this brand point exists.

Featured accessories

The Redline series ranges from 3.5 to 32mm with the same eye relief and eye distance: a set of two or three focal lengths covers everything from planetary detail to overview. An Omegon moon filter dims the bright moon image at longer focal lengths.
