Sky-Watcher EQ8-R Pro with pier tripod: the complete observatory base

This set combines the EQ8-R Pro mount head with the matching heavy-duty pier tripod. With a payload capacity of 50 kg, the combination is designed for optical tubes up to 14 inches and forms the basis for a private observatory or permanent backyard setup.

The EQ8-R Pro brings all the modern improvements of the series: internal cabling that prevents cable breakage, four USB and three 12V connections on the head, belt drive in the declination axis for quieter and smoother tracking, and new dovetail clamps that securely hold heavy optics. The SynScan GoTo control provides access to 42,900 objects.

The column tripod

The 29.4 kg steel column tripod stands immovably and raises the head to a comfortable working height. Unlike a tripod with splayed legs, the space around the column remains clear, allowing long pipes to rotate fully in any position without hitting a tripod leg.
