ZWO ASI 183MM Pro Mono: Cooled monochrome for high-resolution narrowband
The ASI183MM Pro is the cooled monochrome version of the 20.18-megapixel IMX183 sensor. The two-stage Peltier cooling brings the sensor down to 45 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, exactly what the long exposures of narrowband astrophotography need.
Without the Bayer matrix, the full resolution and sensitivity (84% quantum efficiency) are allocated to each filter channel. When used with H-alpha, SII, and OIII filters, you can take photos in the Hubble palette, even from light-polluted areas.

Built for narrowband
Narrowband exposures easily take five to ten minutes per frame. The stable cooling temperature keeps thermal noise low and makes dark frame calibration reproducible, session after session.
The 256 MB DDR3 buffer memory keeps the USB 3.0 transfer stable; the cooling requires a 12-volt power supply.

Honest advice about the sensor
The well-known amplifier glow of the IMX183 also appears here during long exposures and disappears completely with dark frames. Anyone who accepts that calibration work gets nowhere near as much cooled mono resolution for this price.
Please note: this camera does not have an ST-4 port and is not intended as a standalone guiding camera.
