Omegon Pro OIII 7nm Filter 1.25 inch: 7 nm bandpass for maximum nebula contrast

This narrowband filter exclusively transmits the light of doubly ionized oxygen, with a bandwidth of just 7 nanometers. That sharp cutoff removes virtually all unwanted wavelengths: light pollution, moonlight, and broadband starlight.

Finer detail than a standard OIII

While a standard OIII filter passes a broader band, this 7 nm version cuts more tightly. Filaments, edges, and structures in objects such as the Veil Nebula, the Helix Nebula, and the Ring Nebula are therefore displayed with higher contrast.

Visual and photographic

The filter is suitable for deep-sky observers operating under moderately to heavily polluted skies, and for astrophotographers capturing narrowband images with a monochrome camera. In the SHO palette, OIII, together with H-alpha and SII, forms the basis.

Exposure and aperture

The smaller the aperture, the less light gets through. Count on a generous opening for visual use and longer exposure times for photography than with a broadband filter.

Featured accessories

Combine with the Pro H-alpha 7nm and Pro SII 7nm for a complete narrowband set in the Hubble palette. A filter wheel makes switching between the three easy.
