Clear images with 5-inch aperture

The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT is a smart Newton reflector for anyone who wants to take the step from beginner's scope to full-fledged telescope. With its 130 mm (5.1”) main mirror it captures over 30% more light than the 114 mm version from the same series. As a result, you can see the moon in razor-sharp detail, the rings of Saturn, the cloud bands on Jupiter and even the ice caps of Mars. Under dark skies, it also shows deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula (M42), the Andromeda Nebula (M31) and globular clusters in Hercules.

The focal length of 650 mm (f/5) gives a wide field of view, ideal for nebulae and star fields and also makes the telescope particularly suitable for short exposures in astrophotography.

Fully automated tracking with GoTo system

The NexStar 130 SLT is on a motorized alt-azimut mount with GoTo control. Via the NexStar hand controller choose from more than 40,000 celestial objects which automatically locates and tracks the telescope. Thanks to SkyAlign technology you only need to select three bright stars to calibrate the system - quickly, intuitively and without prior knowledge of the sky.

The mount moves smoothly and quietly, and built-in battery compartments prevent cable clutter during use. For even more convenience, you can control the telescope via PC with Celestron's The Sky planetarium software or the optional SkyPortal WiFi module.

Compact, stable and set up within minutes

The telescope comes with a steel tripod, a StarPointer LED locator and a eyepiece of 25 mm. The tube and fork arm have been designed via a quick-release system mount in seconds, without tools. Despite its lightweight design (about 8 kg), the construction feels sturdy and stable, even at higher magnifications.

Combining portability, automatic control and optical power, the NexStar 130 SLT is an excellent choice for families, schools and enthusiastic beginners who want to see more than is possible with standard entry-level models.

What you can see with it

  • Moon: sharp craters, valleys and seas
  • Planets: rings of Saturn, moons of Jupiter, polar caps of Mars
  • Deep-sky: Orion Nebula, Andromeda Nebula, globular cluster M13 and dozens of Messier objects
  • Starfields: Pleiades, Summer Triangle and Milky Way structures
