Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope SC 127/1250 AZ GoTo Astro Fi 5 combines compact construction with serious performance. The 127 mm aperture and 1250 mm focal length provide high light output and strong magnifications, ideal for detailed planet and moon observations. Thanks to the Schmidt-Cassegrain design, the tube is shorter and lighter than a classic refractor or Newton, but you still retain the long focal length.
With the SkyAlign technology from Celestron, alignment is simple: point the telescope at three bright objects and the computer automatically recognizes your position. The GoTo mount then provides access to more than 120,000 celestial objects.
Another big plus is the WiFi control via smartphone or tablet. With the free Celestron SkyPortal app, you control the telescope wirelessly and instantly see what objects are visible. The app simultaneously functions as a planetarium and offers background information, images and audio guides.
The Astro Fi 5 stands on a lightweight, azimuthal mount that is quick to set up and stable enough for visual observations. The telescope tube is easily detachable and portable, making this model not only powerful, but also portable.
Application
The Celestron SC 127/1250 Astro Fi 5 is ideal for beginners and hobby astronomers who want to see a lot of detail with a compact instrument.
- Moon: razor-sharp craters, mountains and shadows.
- Planets: Cassini separation in Saturn's rings, cloud bands and moons around Jupiter, phase of Venus and details on Mars during opposition.
- Deep-sky: bright objects such as the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades and the Andromeda Nebula.
Astrophotography with this model is limited to snapshots of the moon and planets. Deep-sky photography requires an equatorial mount with longer exposure times.
