Large aperture with impressive clarity

The Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 inch is designed for observers who want to see more than a standard telescope can show.

With an aperture of 235 mm, you gather 1.3× more light than with the 8-inch version. That sounds technical, but the effect is practical: galaxies show structure instead of just a blurred haze, planetary nebulae show their shape more clearly, and details on Jupiter and Saturn jump into focus faster. Thanks to the StarBright XLT coatings, almost all of the incoming light goes to your eye, so in dark sky areas you'll immediately notice that this is a real light gun.

Large aperture. Maximum brightness.

The NexStar Evolution's 9.25-inch optics are built for serious light output. The larger diameter simply captures more photons, making faint nebulae, galaxies and subtle structures that disappear with smaller telescopes visible here. The result is an image that looks brighter, sharper and quieter - exactly what you want when looking deeper into the cosmos.

Celestron's StarBright XLT coatings ensure that virtually all incoming light is retained. You notice this immediately in the contrast: planetary details come out more naturally and deep-sky objects gain more definition. It is the combination of large aperture and efficient coatings that gives this telescope such an impressive visual range.

Accurate and mobile

The NexStar Evolution 9.25-inch uses a robust fork arm mount with high-quality brass worm gears, making tracking remarkably accurate and stable. Objects remain calmly in focus, even at high magnification, without the small fluctuations often seen with lighter systems.

Thanks to the integrated hand clutches, you can also move the telescope manually when you want to change gears quickly or explore the sky intuitively. The whole thing remains surprisingly portable: the integrated handles make moving easy, and the built-in LiFePO₄ battery ensures that you can observe all night without needing a single cable. It's these practical, thoughtful details that give the Evolution series a huge edge over other GoTo systems.

The ultimate operating system

The telescope has standard integrated WiFi, allowing you to fully control it with your smartphone or tablet via Celestron's SkyPortal app. The interface is clear and intuitive: tap on an object in the app and the telescope automatically rotates to it. Alignment is just as easy.

Those who prefer to work traditionally use the included NexStar+ hand controller with a database of more than 40,000 objects. For advanced control, there is CPWI software, which connects to your laptop via WiFi or the hand controller. CPWI adds additional alignment stars for even better GoTo accuracy, ideal for those who want maximum precision during longer sessions. Whichever method you choose, the controls feel modern, smooth and fully in control.

A versatile powerhouse

The large aperture makes this telescope as suitable for deep visual observations as it is for planetary photography. The 40 mm eyepiece (59×) allows you to explore broad deep-sky objects such as the Trifid Nebula, while the 13 mm eyepiece (181×) is ideal for compact objects such as the Ring Nebula or details in the moon and planets.

Place a planetary camera behind the telescope and you'll effortlessly bring in sharp shots of Jupiter, Saturn or Mars. The clever design of the mount leaves plenty of room at the back, allowing cameras and DSLRs to move freely without hitting the base. This makes the Evolution 9.25-inch not only powerful, but also surprisingly flexible for different observing styles.

What can you see with it

The Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 inch has enough aperture and optical quality to show both planets and deep-sky objects convincingly. The large aperture makes subtle details visible that are quickly lost on smaller telescopes.

You can count on clear cloud bands on Jupiter, the Cassini division at Saturn and sharp, high-contrast images of the moon. Deep-sky objects benefit greatly from the light output: the Orion Nebula shows structure, globular clusters such as M13 dissolve into individual stars, and bright galaxies show shape and core. Compact planetary nebulae such as the Ring Nebula also come out beautifully at higher magnifications.

For photography, the telescope is especially strong in planetary photography: you can capture Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and the moon razor-sharp with a good camera. Deep-sky photography can be done with short exposures, but for longer integrations an equatorial mount remains necessary to avoid field rotation.

What we recommend

The NexStar Evolution 9.25-inch is ideal for observers looking to take a serious step up in brightness, detail and ease of use. The telescope offers the performance of a large Schmidt-Cassegrain, but without external power hassles or heavy equatorial mount. This makes it particularly suitable for those looking for a powerful, yet mobile telescope.

If you especially want to see a lot without technical fuss, the Evolution is a perfect fit. The accurate GoTo tracking keeps objects steady in focus, and the system lends itself well to long visual sessions. In addition, if you want to try planetary photography, you have an excellent platform that can grow with you.

For deep-sky photography, we recommend using a equatorial mount to use if you want to make longer exposures. For purely visual use and planetary shots, the system performs exceptionally well by itself.
