The Optolong LRGB Filter Set 2″ is designed for astrophotography with monochrome CCD and CMOS cameras. With these four filters - luminance (L), red (R), green (G) and blue (B) - you capture individual images that are later combined into one true-to-life color photograph.
A monochrome camera by itself provides higher resolution than a color camera because all the pixels work together on the same channel. By using an LRGB filter set, you utilize the full resolution and collect more light information. The luminance filter (L) lets all visible light through and blocks UV and IR radiation, so you capture sharp details without chromatic errors. The RGB filters split the basic colors red, green and blue, allowing you to build a full color image in post-processing.
Thanks to the durable, scratch-resistant coating and plane-parallel design, the filters are color-neutral and deep-sky objects such as galaxies and nebulae retain their natural appearance. For optimal use, place this set in a filter wheel so you can quickly switch between individual channels during long exposure sessions.
