Omegon Pro CLS Light pollution filter 2 inch is designed for serious observers who want to get the most out of their telescope under urban or suburban conditions. CLS stands for “City Light Suppression” - and that is exactly what this filter does: it suppresses the most common light sources from artificial lighting, such as high-pressure sodium lamps and mercury vapor lighting.
Where other broadband filters sometimes still let too much light through, this CLS filter effectively tackles a broad part of the interfering spectrum without blocking essential details of deep-sky objects. Thus, the light from emission nebulae (H-beta and OIII) is retained, but the faint glow of the sky background largely disappears from view. The result is a much more contrasty image of nebulae, star clusters and galaxy structures.
This 2″ version is ideal for larger eyepieces or photographic applications with a standard 2″ filter holder. Thanks to its high-quality multiple coating, the filter is low reflection and color neutral in the transmission areas. The robust mount features fine threads for maximum compatibility.
Advantages
✓ Blocks wide range of interfering city lights
✓ Allow H-beta and OIII light to pass through unobstructed
✓ For visual deep-sky observation as well as photography
✓ 2″ mount - suitable for larger eyepieces and filter wheels
✓ High transmission, low reflection and color fidelity
Specifications
- Type: CLS (City Light Suppression) broadband filter
- Connection: 2 inches (50.8 mm)
- Mounting: Aluminum, black anodized with fine threads
- Coating: Multiple anti-reflective
- Transmission: High for OIII and H-beta
- Application: Visual and photographic use under light pollution
- Not suitable for: Observation of moon or planets
Application
The Omegon Pro CLS Light Pollution Filter 2″ is intended for use with larger eyepieces or camera systems in light-polluted areas. It is ideally suited for observing or photographing emission nebulae such as the Orion Nebula, Veil Nebula or Rosette Nebula, where structures and fine details become more pronounced. A valuable addition for any observer who still wants to observe deep-sky objects from the city!
