Lunt LS60MT Solar Telescope ST 70/420 Ha B600 All-round OTA is designed for demanding solar observation in H-alpha. Thanks to the unobstructed 60 mm etalon aperture, the telescope exploits its full resolving power. This allows you to see prominences, filaments, active regions and fine structures in the chromosphere with bright contrast and stability.
Supplied complete, modular design
What makes the LS60MT special is its modular design. The H-alpha etalon module can be easily removed and the telescope turns into a full-fledged ED-apo with FPL-51 glass for night photography, lunar and planetary observation. With a Herschel wedge you observe the sun in white light and with a CaK module you open up a completely new wavelength. This makes the LS60MT one of the most versatile solar telescopes in its class.

The pressure tuner provides precise fine adjustment of the etalon. Through subtle pressure control in the internal air chamber, the refractive index shifts precisely over the H-alpha line. The result is a homogeneous image with no central obstruction and an etalon that has no wear.
The integrated B600 blocking filter is fully suitable for visual H-alpha observation and photography with smaller sensor sizes, such as planetary cameras. The filter is built into a diagonal with 1.25” eyepiece mount and T2 connection. For large camera sensors, Lunt recommends a B1200. During night observations, this unit does not matter; then you use the focuser directly as a 2” ED-apo system.
The 2” rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment lets you focus accurately. The telescope comes complete with tube rings, tripod thread and a sturdy transport case-compact enough to take anywhere, but with the performance of a full-fledged professional solar setup.
What we recommend
The Lunt LS60MT is ideal for advanced users looking for a high-quality and future-proof H-alpha scope. The image quality is excellent, the pressure tuner is extremely reliable and the modular system makes this telescope suitable for all major solar wavelengths as well as night observation.
What you can see with it
- Protuberances along the solar rim
- Filaments and active areas
- Structures in the chromosphere such as plage and fibrils
- Solar flares (with good seeing)
- In night mode: lunar surface, Saturn, Jupiter and bright deep-sky objects
