The ZWO FF130 APO is the largest flat-field refractor in ZWO's lineup. This powerful telescope is designed for demanding astrophotographers looking for uncompromising image quality over a large field - and that's with no flattener, no math, and no hassle. Ready for full-frame, and even beyond.
Key benefits
✓ Direct flat field of view without external flattener or distance calculation
✓ Suitable for full-frame as well as larger sensors (60 mm image circle)
✓ Triplet lens with 2x ED glass for perfect color correction
✓ 3.4″ focuser with rotation for accurate framing
✓ M48 to M86 adapters included - ready for any camera
✓ Solid CNC construction and internal light baffles for maximum contrast
What makes this telescope special
The ZWO FF130 is a so-called Petzval-like quadruplet refractor with a focal length of 1000 mm and an aperture ratio of f/7.7. In practice, this means: sharp, color-fast images over a large area, without distortions at the edges. Thanks to the built-in field correction you don't need a separate flattener. You focus, and the image is flat - right to the corners of your full-frame sensor.
The optical design consists of a triplet lens with two elements made of ED glass for minimal chromatic aberration. A fourth lens in the tube provides image plane correction. This preserves both star shape and sharpness, even with large sensors.
Ease of use and flexibility
The FF130 comes with a robust 3.4-inch focuser, equipped with 1:10 micro-adjustment and a 360° rotator. This makes it easy to rotate your camera without losing focus. The focuser offers a long adjustment path (100 mm), so you can use almost all accessories without extensions.
You get four camera adapters included: M48, M54, M68 and M86. Each adapter has its own fixed backfocus distance, so you know exactly where your sensor should be - no tape measure, no trial and error.
Build quality and design
The telescope tube is fully CNC-machined from aluminum and equipped with an extendable dew cap. Internal light baffles and black coatings prevent stray light and maximize contrast. At 10.5 kg (or 12.5 kg including tube rings and Losmandy rail), the FF130 still mounts well on a portable counterweighted equatorial mount, such as the ZWO AM5 or an EQ6-R.
Application in practice
This telescope is designed for deep-sky astrophotography at the highest level. Think of large emission nebulae, star fields and galaxies, as well as detailed shots of the Moon or even the Sun (with an appropriate solar filter). With its flat field of view and high optical precision, the FF130 is ideal for those using full-frame or larger sensors who do not want to compromise on image quality.
