What we recommend
The Sky-Watcher 76/700 AZ-1 is ideal for children, adolescents and beginners who want to explore the moon and bright planets. Deep-sky objects are of limited visibility due to the smaller mirror, but this model is an excellent stepping stone to larger telescopes.
Want to see more later or learn to track deep-sky objects? Then choose a 130 mm Newton on EQ mount or a smart telescope such as the Seestar S30.
For a more enjoyable viewing experience, we recommend a moon filter and possibly a 6 mm eyepiece to.der much distortion.

Application and use
This telescope is especially suitable for observing:
- ✓ The moon in detail (craters, terminator, lunar seas)
- ✓ Bright planets such as Jupiter, Saturn and Venus
- ✗ Deep-sky objects such as nebulae or galaxies (limited visibility)
- ✗ Astrophotography is not possible with this model
Its easy operation makes it an excellent learning tool for young stargazers. The alt-azimutal mount eliminates confusion about alignment and makes the telescope movable like a photo tripod: left/right and up/down.
Expert advice
The Sky-Watcher 76/700 is an excellent introduction to the universe, but those who want to see more or learn to focus on deep-sky objects are better off looking at a 130 mm Newton on EQ-mount or a smart telescope like the Seestar S30.
For a better viewing experience, we recommend:
- A moon filter add (against glare)
- Possibly a additional eyepiece of 6 mm for maximum magnification
- A red flashlight To be able to read maps in the dark
