Rental Policy

Renting a telescope from Telescoop.com is a low-threshold way to get acquainted with stargazing, without making a big investment right away. To make the process run smoothly for everyone, we have established clear agreements. This telescope rental policy describes all the conditions, rights and responsibilities that apply when renting a telescope through Telescoop.co.uk.

1. Purpose and scope

This policy applies to all private and corporate tenants of Telescoop.co.uk.
It is intended to provide transparency about reservation, delivery, use, deposit, damage and returns.
By renting a telescope, you agree to this rental policy.

2. Reservation and availability

You can rent a telescope through the official page telescope rental.

Upon receipt of your request, you will receive confirmation of availability within 2 hours and a no-obligation quote within 24 hours.
The reservation is final only after payment of the rent and deposit.

3. Delivery, pickup and return

Telescoop.co.uk offers three delivery options, depending on your preference:

  • Courier service: delivery and pickup on location in the Netherlands.
  • Postal shipment: delivery via parcel service, including return label.
  • Self collection and return: possible by appointment at our location.

Transportation costs vary by model and region and are always stated in advance in the quotation.
The renter is responsible for correct receipt of the package or pickup at the agreed upon time.

At the end of the rental period, the telescope, including all accessories, must be returned in the same condition.
Inspection for damage or missing parts will take place immediately upon return.

4. Rental period and renewal

The minimum rental period is 2 days.
Extension is possible by arrangement, provided the telescope is still available.
Rents are charged by the week or month; extensions are always billed pro rata.

Anyone wishing to use the telescope longer than agreed upon should contact us before the end of the rental period.
Failure to return in a timely manner without notification may result in the withholding of all or part of the deposit.

5. Deposit and refund

There is a deposit for each telescope, depending on the type.
The exact amount is listed in the quotation.

The deposit will be paid within 5 business days refunded after correct return.
Any damage, missing parts or delay in return may be deducted.
If the damage exceeds the deposit, Telescoop.co.uk reserves the right to charge the remaining amount.

6. Use and responsibility

The renter is responsible for careful use of the telescope during the rental period.
The equipment should be used only for astronomical or educational purposes.

Operating tips and manuals are included as standard; in case of doubt or technical questions, you can always contact our customer service.
It is not allowed to rent out, disassemble or use the telescope under extreme weather conditions (rain, storm, sand, salt, or high humidity).

7. Insurance and claims

All telescopes are insured against normal use wear and tear and minor shipping damage.
Damage due to negligence, improper use, dropping or moisture is not covered.

In case of loss or theft, the new-value of the model will be charged.
Report damage or loss directly via info@telescoop.nl, so that we can take appropriate follow-up steps.

8. Cancellation and modification of reservations

Cancel:

  • Free of charge up to 48 hours before delivery.
  • Within 24 hours for delivery: 50% of the rental price.
  • Failure to cancel without notification: full rent due.

Changes:
Changes in rental period, delivery address or delivery method are possible up to 48 hours before delivery.
For changes within 24 hours, we charge a €15 administration fee.

9. Purchase after rent

Do you want to keep the rented telescope?
You can.
Many tenants choose to buy after completion. In that case, the rental amount already paid is partially offset against the purchase price.
Telescoop.co.uk hereby offers a special discount on the rental model.

10. Liability

Telescoop.co.uk is not liable for damage or injury caused by improper use of the telescope.
The renter is responsible for the safe setup, use and storage of the equipment.
In case of abuse or intentional damage, we reserve the right to demand full compensation.

11. Maintenance and quality

Each telescope is technically checked, cleaned and recalibrated before and after rental.
Optical elements are maintained by professional means only to ensure optimal image quality.
If a telescope does not function as expected upon receipt, please contact us within 24 hours so we can resolve the problem quickly.

12. Privacy and data protection

When renting a telescope, we process personal data only for administrative purposes (billing, delivery, return, deposit processing).
Data is not shared with third parties except for logistical execution.

Minor signs of use fall under normal wear and tear. Severe damage, loss or theft fall outside the standard insurance. In this case, (part of) the deposit may be retained or the new-for-old value may be deducted. In case of damage, always contact us immediately.

Can I buy the telescope after the rental period ends?
Yes, it is possible. Many renters decide to keep their telescope. In that case, the rental amount paid is partially offset against the purchase price and you receive an attractive discount.

What if I want to cancel or change my reservation?
Cancellation is free of charge up to 48 hours before delivery. Within 24 hours before delivery, 50% of the rental price will be charged. Changes are possible up to 48 hours before delivery, subject to availability.

May I use the telescope for photography or educational purposes?
Yes, you may. Our telescopes may be used for educational projects, demonstrations or astrophotography, as long as it is done carefully and in accordance with the manual.

Will the telescope be checked before I receive it?
Yes. Every telescope is technically checked, cleaned and recalibrated before and after rental. So you are assured of properly functioning equipment upon receipt.
