The genesis of Telescoop.co.uk

Telescoop.com was born out of a deep fascination that has lived in our family for generations: the incredible grandeur of the universe. Even as children, we couldn't get over the thought that there are billions of stars in our galaxy alone, and that each star has at least one planet on average. When you realize that billions of other galaxies exist in addition, you can't help but gaze at the night sky in awe.

Stargazing became a natural outlet for that wonder for us. The first time we looked at Saturn's rings through a telescope was an unforgettable moment. Not only because it was beautiful, but because it made the infinite possibilities of the universe tangible.

Yet we found that many people struggled with the same curiosity to really get started. Before, astronomy was often complicated: large, heavy telescopes, complex manuals and technical barriers made stargazing time-consuming and sometimes frustrating. Many beginners dropped out even before they could experience the real magic.

It had to be different.
