Smart guidance, perfect design
Celestron revolutionized the use of smartphones in stargazing and with the Celestron StarSense Explorer Dobson 203 mm they do so again.
The 203 mm version is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the sky directly without technical knowledge. The app guides you step by step via arrows on your screen until your target is exactly in view.
Beginners appreciate the simplicity; experienced observers enjoy the ease and luminosity of an 8-inch mirror. In minutes you can find the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, the Orion Nebula and countless deep-sky objects.

Observatory technology on your smartphone
The StarSense Explorer app used plate solving, the same method used by professional observatories to determine the sky position of their telescopes.
Your smartphone takes a picture of the night sky, recognizes patterns and immediately knows where the telescope is pointed.
The app displays arrows that guide you to the chosen object; once they disappear and a green visor appears, the object is perfectly in view.
After a brief two-step alignment, the app displays the current sky over your location, complete with a list of the evening's best objects via the feature “Tonight's Best”.
Compatible with most modern smartphones: iPhone 6 or higher and Android 7.1.2 or newer (with camera, gyro and acceleration sensor).

Bright optics with XLT coating
The 203 mm parabolic mirror with 1200 mm focal length Delivers sharp, high-contrast images of the Moon, planets and bright deep-sky objects.
The XLT coatings ensure maximum light transmission, while the low-expansion mirror glass remains stable during temperature changes.
The secondary mirror is attached to thin trapping arms to minimize diffraction rings.
Thanks to its luminosity (f/5.9), you see:
- the Cassini separation in the rings of Saturn,
- fine details in the cloud bands of Jupiter,
- and in dark skies the nebular structures of Orion and the Andromeda System.

Robust Dobson base and smooth operation
The alt-azimuth Dobson base is made of laminated wood with large bearings For stable, smooth movements.
The integrated height brake keeps the telescope perfectly balanced, even with heavy eyepieces.
The 2″ Crayford focuser with 1.25″ adapter offers precise focusing without backlash. The locking screw maintains focus, ideal for longer observations.
A handy handle and removable eyepiece holder make transportation and use easy.

What we recommend
- Moon: sharp craters, rills and shadow patterns
- Jupiter: four Galilean moons and visible cloud bands
- Saturn: clearly recognizable rings with Cassini separation
- Deep-sky objects: Orion and Lagoon Nebula, Andromeda galaxy, globular clusters and open clusters
- Double stars: such as Albireo or Mizar/Alcor
