The ZWO Counterweight Bar is specifically designed for use with the ZWO AM3 and AM5 harmonic mounts. This counterweight bar allows for better balance of the center of gravity when dealing with higher loads.
Although the AM3 and AM5 mounts can operate without counterweight up to 8 kg and 13 kg respectively, using this bar is strongly recommended when approaching maximum payload capacity, especially with longer tubes or additional accessories like camera sliders, filter wheels, or guiders.
The bar is made of stainless steel and attaches directly to the side of the mount. You can then mount standard counterweights (with 20 mm bore) on it. This prevents unnecessary torsion on the axis and significantly improves tracking accuracy.
A must-have for astrophotographers who want to optimally balance their setup, both in mobile and fixed installations.
