Smarter than an ordinary telescope

Celestron has designed a system that makes finding celestial objects easier than ever. By placing your smartphone in the StarSense mount, the app knows exactly where your telescope is pointed. On the screen, you see arrows that guide you step by step to the desired object, and once the arrows disappear and a green crosshair appears, you know the object is perfectly in focus.

The app uses the same technology used by professional observatories, so-called plate solving, to determine the position of the telescope based on recognizable star patterns. So you get the precision of an observatory system in the palm of your hand.

Powerful optics in a compact design

The StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ is equipped with a 114 mm Newton reflector and a focal length of 1000 mm. This means 1.2 times more light collection than a classic 102 mm refractor, resulting in bright, high-contrast images.

With the included 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, you can get started right away. The 25 mm provides 40x magnification and is ideal for getting started; the 10 mm (100x) gets you closer to planetary details. And thanks to the 2x Barlow lens, you double the magnification of each eyepiece - for even more detail.

Experience the craters of the Moon in razor-sharp contrast, admire the cloud bands of Jupiter with its four Galilean moons, and see Saturn's rings appear in the eyepiece. Bright deep-sky objects such as the Andromeda Nebula and the Orion Nebula also become visible under dark skies.

Easy to set up and use anywhere

Celestron is all about ease of use. Everything you need is in the box, no extra adapters or complicated alignment required. The telescope is completely manual, so no cables or power connections. Within minutes it is ready to use.

The lightweight azimuth tripod with smooth slow-motion controls lets you move effortlessly across the sky. Perfect for the garden, on vacation or in a dark location outside the city.

2. Launch the app.
3. Follow the arrows and observe!

The app shows you what is currently visible in the sky, from the “Tonight's Best” list to galaxies, nebulae, planets and binary stars. Built-in descriptions tell you exactly what you're looking at, making it not only fun but also educational.

The StarSense Explorer app works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and above, and Android 7.1.2 (or newer) with gyro and acceleration sensors.
