ZWO Filters IR-Pass Filter 1.25″ – sharper planetary details through infrared
This IR-pass filter from ZWO is specially designed for astrophotography in the infrared spectrum. The filter blocks visible light and only allows infrared radiation with longer wavelengths to pass through. This significantly reduces the impact of atmospheric turbulence – ideal for planetary photography under less than ideal conditions.
When do you use this filter?
- For lunar and planetary imaging with a monochrome camera
- Especially suitable for Mars, Jupiter and Saturn
- Works well in poor seeing conditions, as infrared is less affected by atmospheric turbulence
Note: this filter is not intended for visual observation. Only cameras sensitive to infrared (such as the ZWO ASI174MM, ASI462MM or ASI585MM) can benefit from it.
What You Can Capture
✓ Sharper images of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon
✓ Planetary details in poor seeing conditions
✓ Infrared structures on Venus or Uranus (with suitable camera)
✓ Better contrast when imaging during twilight or at low altitude
