This 2-inch violet filter from Omegon is designed for observing specific details that are normally difficult to see. The filter works particularly well when observing Venus: cloud structures in the upper atmosphere become more visible when the bright light is filtered.
It also helps with lunar observations by reducing bright light, making subtle structures in craters more prominent. Additionally, the filter can be used to slightly enhance contrast differences in the atmospheres of Jupiter and Saturn.
The filter glass is fully colored and mounted in a sturdy anodized aluminum housing with a thickness of just 5 mm. Thanks to this thin construction, it fits seamlessly in a filter wheel or star diagonal. The double filter thread allows for combining multiple filters. The filter comes in a sturdy plastic protective case.
