The mirror captures over 320 times more light than the naked eye, and the focal length of 920 mm (f/7.3) balances field of view and magnification. Deep lunar craters, the Cassini Division under good conditions, M42, and M13 are all within reach.

A Newtonian reflector works with mirrors instead of lenses: large aperture for little money and a color-aberration-free image. The Omegon 2x Barlow lens (34.90 euros) doubles both eyepieces to 74x and 184x. An Omegon moon filter 13 percent (27.90 euros) dims the very bright Moon for this aperture, and the Omegon Cronus 7mm eyepiece (79 euros) provides a fixed 131x for planets.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this will cause permanent eye damage within a second.

For whom yes, for whom no

For those who value a stable setup over the last bit of aperture; the EQ-3 is the quietest mount in this price range. Not for those seeking maximum aperture per euro; a Dobsonian on Dobson page offers more for the same money.
