The Omegon AC 70\/700 AZ-2<\/strong> is the classic refractor telescope among the entry-level models: 70 mm aperture, 700 mm focal length (f\/10) and an alt-azimuth mount that you operate as you think. For 129 euros, you get a complete set that shows the Moon, the bright planets, and open star clusters sharply and with high contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The achromatic doublet lens with multi-coating combines two types of glass to reduce chromatic aberration. At high magnification, a thin color fringe remains visible around bright objects; this is characteristic of this type of lens and does not interfere with normal use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 35x to 140x with the included set<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With the 20mm and 10mm Kellner eyepieces, you view at 35x and 70x. The 2x Barlow lens doubles that to 70x and 140x: precisely up to the practical maximum for this aperture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 140x magnification, you can see Saturn's rings separate from the planet and Jupiter's cloud bands, provided the air is calm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

AZ-2: Aim without thinking<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The azimuthal mount moves up, down, left, and right. You track objects with small nudges as they move across the sky. For visual observing, that's the fastest way to work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
