Maksutov optics: high contrast, no maintenance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Maksutov design folds a 1400 mm focal length into a short, closed tube. The meniscus lens corrects the mirror almost completely: no chromatic aberrations and a small central obstruction, resulting in high contrast. The 100 mm aperture provides 54x magnification with the included 26 mm eyepiece; consider approximately 200x as the maximum (f\/14). Collimation is rarely needed, the optics are virtually maintenance-free. Allow for 30 to 45 minutes of cool-down time: the closed tube needs to reach outdoor temperature for the sharpest image. Use the solar filter only if it is undamaged, and never look at the sun without certified protection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
