All other light, including streetlights and moonlight, is blocked. This makes the sky background extremely dark and maximizes the visibility of nebular structures at this wavelength. At 3 nm, this is Optolong's narrowest SII variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Narrowband filters are the foundation of monochrome camera photography: you photograph the lines separately and combine them into color composites, such as the well-known Hubble Palette (SHO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.telescoop.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Optolong-Filters-Pro-Veil-SII-3nm-2-.jpg\" alt=\"Optolong SII narrowband filter 2 inch\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you use this filter for<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Made for the sulfur channel of Hubble palette (SHO) recordings; the 3 nm passband also brings out faint sulfur structures. Because light pollution is virtually completely blocked, you can also photograph from the city and in moonlight with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technology<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Schott glass is finely optically polished and features multi-layer ion-assisted coatings: high transmission in the passband, strong blocking outside of it, and a central wavelength that remains stable with temperature changes.
