In EQ mode, you can accurately track objects for long exposures with autoguiding. In AZ mode, you can skip polar alignment and start observing within minutes, with the option of using a second telescope in place of the counterweights.

The belt drive and microstep stepper motors ensure smooth, quiet movement. Thanks to the dual encoders (Freedom Find), you can move the telescope by hand without losing alignment: the mount always knows where it is. The SynScan hand controller offers 42,900 objects.

Stable on steel legs

The tripod with 51 mm legs supports the setup with minimal vibration. With a load capacity of 15 kg, there is room for medium-sized refractors, Newtonians, and catadioptric systems, even with a camera and guidescope.

Included

AZ-EQ5 GT mount head with dual encoders

SynScan GoTo Hand Controller (42,900 Objects)

Steel tripod with Ø51 mm legs

2 counterweights

Pole finder

Featured accessories

The illuminated polar scope for the AZ-EQ5GT makes polar alignment in EQ mode more comfortable. The Oklop transport bag for EQ5, HEQ5, and AZEQ5 protects the head on the go, and with the SynScan Wi-Fi Adapter, you can control the mount via the app.

For whom yes, for whom no

Good for: those who combine visual observation and astrophotography and don't want to buy two mounts, or those who want to let the public look through two telescopes simultaneously. Not for: those who exclusively shoot with heavy optics; they are better off with an EQ6-R Pro.

Specifications

Type

Hybrid mounting: equatorial and azimuthal

Max. load capacity

15 kg

Drive

Timing belts with microstep stepper motors

Encoders

Dual encoders (manual movement without alignment loss)

Controls

SynScan GoTo Hand Controller, 42,900 Objects

Counterweights

2 pieces

Tripod

Steel, 51 mm legs

Total weight set

19.5 kg

Nutrition

12V DC

The disassembly of Sky-Watcher is a base that will last you for years.
