Omegon OIII nebula filter 1.25\u2033<\/strong> is a specialized narrow-band filter for observers who want to extract the maximum detail from planetary nebulae and supernova remnants. The filter lets through almost exclusively light with wavelengths of 496 and 501 nanometers - exactly matching the emission lines of double ionized oxygen (OIII), which occurs strongly in objects such as the Veil Nebula, Ring Nebula and Dumbbell Nebula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the filter blocks all other wavelengths (including those from streetlights, the moon and even many starlight), the contrast between the object and the background sky is dramatically improved. You see filament structures, edges and gases that are barely visible without the filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The effect is strongest when used with a telescope from about 150 mm aperture. With smaller telescopes, the filter also works, but the image tends to be slightly darker. The filter is fully visually designed, with a 1.25\u2033 mount compatible with all common eyepieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
